Head Barista

General Purpose: As the Head Barista, you will be at the forefront of our coffee shop’s operations, responsible for leading our coffee team in delivering exceptional coffee experiences. Your passion for coffee, expertise in brewing techniques, and leadership abilities will be instrumental in maintaining the high quality and reputation of our coffee offerings. You will play a key role in staff training, ensuring consistent coffee preparation, and fostering a welcoming atmosphere for our valued customers. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve high-quality coffee and espresso beverages.
  • Ensure consistency in coffee brewing methods and quality.
  • Train and mentor barista staff in coffee preparation techniques.
  • Oversee the work of other baristas, delegating tasks as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service, including taking orders, addressing customer questions and concerns, and handling complaints.
  • Maintain a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for customers.
  • Collaborate with management to create and update the coffee menu.
  • Experiment with new coffee recipes and specialty drinks.
  • Monitor and manage coffee bean inventory, ensuring freshness.
  • Order coffee supplies and maintain adequate stock levels.
  • Maintain and clean coffee machines, grinders, and brewing equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs as necessary.
  • Ensure the consistent quality of all coffee and espresso beverages.
  • Taste-test coffee to check for flavor and strength.
  • Adhere to health and safety regulations, including food handling and sanitation guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the coffee preparation area.
  • Monitor expenses and work within budget constraints.
  • Keep track of daily sales and report them to management.
  • Engage with customers and build relationships to enhance the cafĂ©’s reputation.
  • Recommend coffee beans and products to customers based on their preferences.
  • Create visually appealing coffee presentations, such as latte art.
  • Ensure that beverages are served in clean and attractive cups and glasses.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to barista staff.
  • Identify training needs and opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in marketing efforts, such as social media promotions and events.
  • Help create and execute special promotions or coffee-related events.
  • Maintain records of daily sales, inventory, and customer feedback.
  • Prepare reports for management as needed.
  • Stay updated on coffee industry trends and new brewing techniques.
  • Adjust to changes in customer preferences and seasonal variations.
  • Lead by example and foster a positive working environment among barista staff.
  • Collaborate with other team members, including kitchen staff, for a seamless operation.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience as a barista
  • Strong knowledge of coffee and coffee preparation methods
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Leadership and training skills
